On Guru Purnima, people usually meet their gurus, worship them, give them gifts and seek their blessings.

Guru is the person who shows us the right path and also teach us how to reach our real destination successfully. Guru is a power who transform a general person into a powerful and real personality who become beneficial for whole the world.
In India gurus are worshiped for the ancient times.
Lord shiva also says that there is no difference between god and guru that's why it is the duty of disciple to devote completely to the gurus feet.

It is a day to worship guru so the answer of what to do on this auspicious day is also very simple i.e. worship guru from whom you have taken diksha or shaktipat or teaching to perform spiritual practices.
Now a very important question is that how to perform guru pooja?
Here i am providing the simplest way to worship guru-
On this sacred day it is good to worship guru feet to get the blessings and to show our gratitude. Perform panchopchar pooja of guru feet and offer seasonal fruits, sweets, cloths, dakshina.
A fact is that it is not possible to give any thing to guru because they are beyond any physical reach so it is not possible to satisfy any spiritual master with any physical matter.
So the best thing is to devote our self completely in guru feet and follow the instructions as it is life long. This is the real worship of a guru. And thus we will be able to make our all day guru poornima.

What To Do If Any One Has Not Taken Any Diksha?
In this case worship lord shiva or lord vishnu and pray to them to show you the right path to move.
This physical world is full of illusions and without a real spiritual master it is not possible to move ahead. So be a disciple, Meditate and pray to get real path and guidance.
