On this day there is a tradition to buy precious metals, utensils etc for business and home use. As per another belief on this day Kuber(god of wealth) pooja is done, Yamraj(god of death) pooja is done with mahalaxmiji(goddess of wealth).

Now let’s understand about how to perform dhan-teras pooja easily to bring prosperity:
- On this day it is good to establish a Kalash in which put 5 supari, 1 silver coin, drob grass, a piece of turmeric, 9 gems, now place a plate of rice on the kalash and then put a coconut over it.
- After this it is good to perform Panchopchaar pooja of this kalash and pray to god and goddess to come to bless you.
- Light a Deepak and offer bhog/navaidya.
- In the evening it is good to offer 14 lamps in the name of Yamraaj the god of death. The offering deepak is called deep daan. Also do recite Yam Strot or any mantra of Yamraj like "Om yamay Namah", in the evening at the time of deep daan. Do put pinch of sugar, 1 kaudi, pinch of turmeric powder, pinch of rice in deepak.
- From this day it is also good to start worshiping Shree yantra so gold shree yantra, silver shree yantra, parad shree yantra, bhoj patra shree yantra can be worshiped as per the budget.
It is also necessary to keep our thinking pure and sacred to get the blessings of dhan kuber, yamraj and goddess laxmi.
