It is the traditional celebration in villages in which different types of drawings and designs are made daily by females and then worship is done. This saanjhi started from the bhadrapad poornima and ends on pitramoksha amvasya. This is celebrated to give tribute to our ancestors/forefathers.

As per the belief SANJA is the Manas daughter of god brahma and is very beautiful. She is a goddess and rides over the cart of Sun. Moon and Sun are brothers of her.

Unmarried girls worship her to get good groom and for happy future. This festival is celebrated by girls with there friends/Shaliyan and so it is also called "Sanja Saheldi" or Chhaawdi in Nimad.
In rajasthan and in Braj this festival is called Sanjhi and in Maharashtra this is called GULABAI.

What Happens In Sanjha?

Girl enjoy very much all the 16 days of shraadh paksh, Daily they sings song, make gossips together and worship together. After getting fresh girls make the threshold/dahleej pure by putting cow dung in a very fine way. After that lamp is offer in the door to welcome the ancestors. In the evening time girls with there friends make different types of designs in boundary wall.

Statue of Sanja goddess is also made with sun and moon and then worship is done. After that prasaad of panjiri is distributed mostly.

As per the tradition Pancha, Biij, Chhabdi,, Bijora, Gaur parwati, Chaupda, saptrishi tara mandal, flowers design, Nagaade, dhol, dokra-dokri, bejni, fan, kele ki jhadu, peacock, kila kot etc are made regularly and worshiped.

On the 16th day of pitra paksh i.e. on the pitra moksh amvasya they all are worshipped properly and then girls leave them on any river, pound etc.

So sanjha is a fun time with having spiritual importance too. Ancestors bless the girls and there family members and mata sanjha also bless girls to get good future. This festival has great religious importance
