Om

We offer our oblations to Jātavedas (the all-knowing Fire-God);

May he destroy the hostile forces — he who knows everything.

May that divine fire lead us across all difficulties,

Like a boat across a turbulent river,

And safely carry us beyond all miseries and sins.

I take refuge in the Goddess Durga,

Who is fiery in color and blazing with tapas (austerity),

Radiant like the sun and worshipped for the fruits of karma.

O supreme power, you are the embodiment of strength —

Salutations to you who help us cross over (all trials) swiftly.

O Agni, carry us through all dangers and adversities,

Grant us auspiciousness and peace from all sides.

Let the earth be wide and nourishing for us.

Bring well-being to our children and descendants.

O Jātavedas, take us across all troubles,

As one is taken across the ocean by a boat.

O Agni, like sage Atri sang your praises with pure mind,
