Falgun Vinayki Chaturthi 2026: Vinayki Chaturthi fast in the month of Falgun holds great significance. This year, the Vinayki Chaturthi vrat will be observed on 21 February 2026.

Chaturthi Tithi will begin on 20 February at around 2:40 PM and will end on 21 February at around 1:02 PM. Therefore, according to Udaya Tithi, the Vinayki Chaturthi fast will be observed on Saturday, 21 February.

On this day, worshipping Lord Ganesha with proper ways removes obstacles from personal and professional life and brings peace by eliminating troubles.

Significance of Falgun Vinayki Chaturthi

The vrat katha of Falgun Vinayki Chaturthi is based on the story of Vishnu Sharma and his daughters-in-law. The youngest daughter-in-law worshipped Lord Ganesha with complete devotion and served her father-in-law sincerely. Pleased with her devotion, Lord Ganesha filled her home with wealth and prosperity. This story teaches that sincere faith and patience in worship fulfill all wishes.

In Satyug, there lived a virtuous old Brahmin named Vishnu Sharma who had seven sons.

Vishnu Sharma used to eat at his sons' homes, but his daughters-in-law insulted him. One day, while observing Ganesh Chaturthi fast, he asked his daughters-in-law for worship materials, but all of them refused.

Finally, he asked the youngest daughter-in-law, who not only provided the puja materials but also worshipped Lord Ganesha with full devotion and served her father-in-law sincerely.

At midnight, her father-in-law fell ill, but the youngest daughter-in-law stayed awake the entire night without eating or drinking and continued serving him.

By Lord Ganesha’s grace, Vishnu Sharma recovered, and the youngest daughter-in-law’s home was filled with wealth and abundance. When the other daughters-in-law saw this, they realized their mistake and resolved to observe the fast as well.

Worshipping Lord Ganesha in the month of Falgun brings happiness, prosperity, freedom from diseases, and financial stability.

This fast removes life’s obstacles and grants wisdom and intelligence.

Special Planetary Yogas on Vinayki Chaturthi:

  • Conjunction of Saturn and Moon in Pisces will form Vish Yoga.
  • Sun, Mercury, Venus, and Rahu together in Aquarius will form Chaturgrahi Yoga.

How to Perform Vinayki Chaturthi Puja (Easy Method):

  1. Wake up early in the morning, complete daily routines, sit at the place of worship, and take a vow to observe the fast.
  2. Install an idol of Lord Ganesha made of gold, silver, brass, copper, or clay according to your devotion.
  3. Offer 21 Durva grass to Lord Ganesha.
  4. Offer Modak as prasad.
  5. Chant the mantra: 'Om Gam Ganapataye Namah'.
  6. Serve the needy on Chaturthi.
  7. Perform evening puja and aarti of Lord Ganesha.
  8. After that, you may break your fast and have food.
