Story of Vijaya Ekadashi 

The story of Vijaya Ekadashi is associated with Phalguna Krishna Ekadashi, which brings victory and success. According to the Ramayana, before attacking Lanka, Lord Shri Ram observed this fast on the advice of Sage Vakadalbhya to find a way to cross the ocean. By the effect of this fast, Lord Ram defeated Ravana and freed Goddess Sita.

When Lord Ram, Lakshman, and the Vanara army reached the seashore, they faced the vast ocean, which seemed impossible to cross. On Lakshman’s suggestion, Lord Ram approached Sage Vakadalbhya and asked for a solution.
The sage said that observing the fast on Phalguna Krishna Paksha Ekadashi would surely bring victory. He explained the method of installing a Kalash with Lord Vishnu and worshipping it with incense and lamps.
Lord Ram observed this fast along with the army and then crossed the ocean and defeated Ravana.

Belief and Significance
Thus, this fast not only grants victory over enemies but also destroys major troubles and obstacles in life. Merely listening to this story gives the merit equal to performing the Vajapeya Yajna. This fast grants success in every task and mental peace to the devotee.
